Teddy Bear’s Tea Party- 08 December 2023
On Friday 8th December, the BFS Naples School Council held a Teddy Bear’s Tea Party to raise funds to extend the school library with new books of the children’s choosing. The children were invited to bring in their favourite teddy to join them in class for the day and at morning break, they shared a fantastic tea party. Parents kindly baked and donated cakes/buns/cookies for the children to purchase during the tea party which were all served up by the School Council. The children had a fantastic time and some even won one of Mrs Robinson’s knitted teddies. After the event, the School Council counted up the donations and are proud to announce that they raised a whopping 139 euros to purchase new books in the New Year. Well done to all involved and to the fabulous bakers who kindly donated their sweet treats. Fantastic effort.
Help our Spots Day (Children in Need) – 17 November 2023
On Friday 17th November, whilst the UK was raising money for Children in Need, we held our very own “Help our Spots” Day to raise money for the Pink and Blue school in Castel Volturno. This is a underfunded Italian school that provides education for less privileged children within the Italian community. The children loved coming into school wearing spotty clothing, spotty stickers and even some spotty hair ribbons. They were all given the opportunity to say what they would like the money raised to be spent on; crayons, writing books, playdoh, pencils, pens, colouring pencils by placing their loose change on the relevant spot. They managed to raise a fantastic 110 euros for the school and the money will be used to purchase the items listed above. Mrs Louise Carradice, a member of our Brit Community, works as a volunteer teacher at the school and joined us for the Celebration assembly to tell the children all about the Pink and Blue school and why their fundraising money was so important and the difference it would make to the children’s learning experience. Wilf and Cora, from the School Council presented Mrs Carradice with a cheque for the money raised. Well done everyone, what a wonderfully kind thing to do for those less fortunate than ourselves.
STEM Week – 6-10 November 2023
This week, the whole school got involved with some pretty fantastic STEM activities, aided by the wonderful Mrs Grady. Alfa Romeo built houses for the 3 little pigs and used a fan to see if they would blow down. Ferrari class discussed then designed and built their own Ferrari racing cars. They then had a competition to see whose would go the furthest. Maserati talked about robotic arms and how they aid people with disabilities, they then built their own articulated hands and Lamborghini class designed, built and tested their own bridges. The children had a fantastic week and showed off their achievements in the Celebration assembly. Well done everyone for creating such amazing projects.
FOBFS Halloween Party – 25 October 2023
On Wednesday 25 October, the amazing FOBFS team put on a spooktastic Halloween party for the children. There were scarily spooky games, a frightastic disco and seriously ghoulish hotdogs to keep everyone warm in the typically British weather of rain showers! But we were graced with a double rainbow :). There were pumpkin carving and best fancy dress outfit competitions for each year group. The children (and adults) had a frightful time….well done and thank you to our wonderful FOBFS team for organising.
One World Day – 23-24 October 2023
This week, we celebrated and learned about all the wonderful links that BFS has with the world. As a whole school, we embraced and shared all of the special things that make us who we are. On Monday 23rd October we invited the children to come to school in clothes that show and celebrate who they are; Country colours, sports clubs (football, gymnastics, rugby), BFS uniform, hobbies/pastime (Scouts, Judo) , traditional or cultural dress. Throughout the day, children shared what makes them special and unique as well as how they belong and are part of different communities. On Tuesday 24th October the children worked in mixed age teams from across the school, to ‘travel around the world’, learning more about some of the wonderful countries linked to our school community; Poland, Nepal, St Lucia and Australia! All children and staff had a wonderful day learning about each other’s backgrounds and how we are all very special and unique in different ways.
